Do you charge royalties on your hybrids?
No. We have not and do not ever plan to charge royalties on our own hybrids and do not have any intention on pursuing trademarks or patents on our own hybrids now or in the future. We respect the decisions of other hybridizers to do so and hold no ill will for them doing so (we'll pay the royalties if we sell their varieties), but we personally feel that dahlias have been one of the relatively few plant types that new hybrids have been primarily introduced by backyard hobbyists for the love of flowers and we intend to keep our own hybrids as public domain without any sales restrictions. Seeing and hearing about other's success growing our hybrids is worth more than royalties in our opinion. However, with all due respect to other hybridizers, this is a hobby business for us and not our main source of income, which is not the case for every hybridizer who understandably may have considerable expenses they may need to cover each year.
Help! I had tubers in my cart and when I went to check out, they aren't there! What happened?!
Someone checked out faster than you. The computer keeps track of our inventory and doesn't over sell what we don't have. Unfortunately, if someone checks out faster than you and we run out of stock, the item will no longer be able to be purchased.
I still see an item in my cart but it's not letting me checkout! Why not?!
Please refresh the page. An item you have in your cart is likely sold out. Sorry!
I'm really upset I didn't get a tuber on my wish list! Where else can I buy them?!
Darn! We're sorry you missed out. Please check out www.dahliaaddict.com to find who might be selling the same tubers.
I'd really like to talk to someone about my order/a question/a concern. Who can I contact?
Our customer service representative, Blanche, pictured above center will get back to you shortly. Please be patient, she's a hunt and peck typer. She moves faster if you offer her mealworms. All joking aside, shoot us an email at [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
How do you ship tubers?
In individually labeled bags in a well insulated box sent via USPS.
What is the gold stuff in the bag my tubers came in?
Vermiculite. We store all of our tubers in vermiculite and ship them to you that way too.
When will you open your store?
To be determined! Historically, we have opened on Black Friday (the day after U.S. Thanksgiving), but we will post an official date and time of opening on our Facebook and Instagram.
Can I visit your farm?
No. We are closed to the public.
I'm getting married, can I buy your flowers?
Congratulations! Unfortunately, at this time, we do not sell cut flowers. There are some fantastic local flower growers who do sell cut flowers, and some fantastic local florists who use locally sourced blooms. Please support them!
Do you sell cut flowers to anyone?
Nope. We might pick some for ourselves or to give to friends or family here and there, but by and large, we don't even pick most of our blooms.
Why do you let the blooms "go to waste" on the plants?
Dahlias make seeds. Dahlia seeds are not waste--they're new hybrids.
Why do you not ship tubers outside of the United States?
There are special regulations around international shipping of live plants. Phytosanitary certificates get involved, and this is quite costly and a lot of extra hassle. For now, our U.S. customers have kept us plenty busy.
Do you show your flowers at the Spokane Interstate Fair?
Usually! We get frost quite early, so some years frost has reached us before the fair.
How can I join my local dahlia society?
Find your local dahlia society here. If you do not have a local dahlia society, you can make one! More on that here. If you are in the Greater Spokane area, join us at the Inland Empire Dahlia Society. You can mail the application below.
